It's Cool To Be Carfree |
Stephen Young I gave up my car in 1995 and haven't owned one since. I hire a car when I need one, which is a lot less often than I'd expected. My background is in economics, which I've used in analysing, advising, writing about and presenting on the energy and ICT sectors: I've worked on regulation, strategy and public policy for the public and the corporate sector, work which has taken me all over the world. Amazingly, I haven't owned a car in any of the countries I have been to, but that hasn't ever stopped me getting to a meeting on time! I am a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Brighton Business School, where I teach micro, macro and behavioural economics. I'm currently writing The Four Wheel Detox, the book of this website (and lots more). See: Vivienne Caisey I can drive, but I prefer not to. I don't own a car. My background is in commercial marketing, where I was a board director of a major exhibitions company. I'm a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and since 2004 I have been working with Brilliant Futures Ltd, on social marketing interventions, training and consultancy projects. I also work as an independent social marketing trainer and consultant. The work is aimed at promoting positive behavioural change in a variety of areas, concentrating on health and the environment. I am currently delivering social marketing training to a wide range of public and third sector professionals in the UK.
